Our Story
In 2021, our Founder, Sam, was leading a homeless service organization while raising a newborn and navigating the lasting impacts of the pandemic. Like many social impact leaders, she felt stretched too thin. As she considered the next chapter of her career, colleagues began reaching out for help with projects because they, too, were feeling stretched too thin. Sam officially launched SDC Strategies in 2022 to help organizations with grant writing, strategic planning, and financial management. The business grew through word of mouth as more leaders sought practical, trusted support. Over time, our work expanded. We helped organizations secure and manage multimillion-dollar contracts, design new programs, respond to disasters, and plan for growth. We also built an experienced team that understands the realities of leading organizations committed to social good. As the business grew, SDC Strategies evolved into Building Social Good—a name that better reflects who we are and what we do today. We're not just filling gaps. We're developing courageous, trusted, and skilled leaders and organizations working to solve our communities' most pressing problems. We're working alongside nonprofits, foundations, government, and businesses—because it's on all of us to strengthen our communities. – Our new brand reflects our strength as builders. We work with you to build the skills, plans, systems, and resources that bring your vision for improving the well-being of people and places to life. Our clients spend every day helping people, protecting the environment, and strengthening communities. Having worked inside nonprofits, government, and social enterprises ourselves, we understand the pressure, pace, and responsibility this work carries. We take the time to understand each organization’s goals and challenges, then provide practical, actionable support—not cookie-cutter consulting. Through facilitation, skills development, and project management, we help leaders and organizations build the clarity and skills needed to advance meaningful ideas. Everything we do is grounded in transparency, authenticity, and action so our clients can build stronger organizations, create lasting impact, and do more good.
